The H.E.A.T. Foundation, with your generous help and support has been fortunate to be a part of the lives of so many wonderful people. Here's an example of your donations at work.

The H.E.A.T. Foundation in collaboration with Le Lycee Franco-Americain International School and International School of Broward Charter School (Florida) under the direction of Dr. Jacquelyne Hoy, has been one of the first responders to the Haiti crisis; dealing with collapsed orphanages, evacuating children and displaced families to safer areas, caring for the injured, distributing food, medical supplies and providing temporary shelter to some of the most unfortunates in the region. We also sent off a good number of adopted orphans to their adoptive families in the USA, Canada and France. (Only the children who had some form of paperwork started before the earthquake).

Those of you, who may wonder about the roles you are playing, let us point out that:

It is because of you that we could look into the eyes of an orphan and tell him or her they’re not alone and there is hope.
It is because of you, we could hold back the tears when an injured child is convincing us that “Maman” will come for him or her and we know chances are “Maman” is under the rubble or is one of the nameless and faceless bodies that has been dumped in a mass grave somewhere and never to be seen again, we can reassure them and promise to be there.
It is because of you that we can work tirelessly until the late hours in the night and be up and ready by 4:00AM to do it all over again.
It is because of you that we can endure the discomfort of army showers from a bucket of water and sleep under the stars on a yoga mat.
It is because of you that we can dodge bullets to get the supplies where they are needed and reassure ourselves that our families back home will understand the sacrifices.
It is because of you that we can look into the eyes of someone who has lost all of their material possessions and tell them help is on the way.
It is because of you that we can look into the eyes of a woman who buries her mother and her sister and has to take responsibility for her four nieces and nephews in addition to two children of her own; and let her know that she will not be abandoned.

The point is that you have been and continue to be part of this journey. We hope that somehow you will realize that this is a big puzzle and everyone plays a significant part.
