"Empowering Communities - Saving Lives"

The H.E.A.T. Foundation – Health, Education, Agriculture and Technology is a non-governmental organization established to provide humanitarian services to the general public both domestically and internationally. It is a grass root organization that is founded on the philosophy that donor contributions should have a direct measurable impact on the communities that they support. The organization is a legal entity and is also registered with the Haitian Government, in addition to the William Clinton Foundation – Haiti Civil Society Organization (CSO).

About the Founder

Ms. Ghislaine de Sanon, RN is the Executive Director and Founder of the organization. Ms. de Sanon founded The H.E.A.T. Foundation in part, to carry on her late mother’s legacy. She combines her own vision and experiences with that of the philanthropic women who have helped shape her life. She had her first volunteer experience as a young teen-ager translating French, Creole and English for an American Nurse who travelled to Haiti to work in some of the most remote rural communities. That summer experience has helped define the individual that Ms. de Sanon is today.

Many years later
upon adequate preparation and acquisition of a significant level of experience in the Medical field,
she returns to Haiti and continues in the foot steps of her Heroine American Nurse. While in College, Ms. de Sanon continued her volunteer work domestically and abroad. Upon completion of her degrees in Nursing and in business, she provides community and public health care services, sits on various boards of Directors as she gains knowledge and experience as an Emergency Room/Trauma Nurse, Health Care Provider and Entrepreneur. She established and operated her own Nursing Services Agency. She later transitioned into the world of Health Care and Business Consulting to have more flexibility to volunteer.

After many
years of toiling alongside the larger and more bureaucratic organizations, providing humanitarian services; as an Emergency Room / Trauma Nurse, Public
Health Advocate, Teacher and International Medical Missions Coordinator, Ms. de Sanon founded
The H.E.A.T. Foundation, primarily to close the gap between some of the larger International and local NGOs. She maintains very strong relationships and alliances with many of the international
and local humanitarian organizations in Haiti and in other countries.

To stay focused on her social contributions to humanity, Ms. de Sanon often reflects on these words, by Ralph Waldo Emerson: … to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
